Still looking for answer to laptop problem.

Hi Forum,

According to thread of 3/6/07, my question is this, what does it mean when
an error comes up saying the following: BAD_POOL_HEADER? I have already been
to google and asked it, there is a lot of explanations. But for an individual
who understands this problem, what does it mean? Maybe I can stop getting
this message every other day.

Advice given to me by another Forum member was this, he said the following:
"Try turning off the (Microsoft Indexing Services), by going to (msconfig).

Why would I do this and for what purpose is this advice?

Thanks for any research into this matter!

Sincerely, Tim

Did you try the other Forum member's suggestion? Try it! If it doesn't solve
your problem, turn it back on.

The clean Boot to eliminate other possibilities like Hardware, Software:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310353

-- The problem could be an Overheated Laptop setting on a desk? without a
stand to circulate the Air around and cool down the Laptop temperature.
-- An installed Flash drives/cards, NIC Card, Wireless Card, printers, CD
writers...etc.
Normally the Bad_pool_header indicated a bad system File Structure, or
application is running as an Admin or a user on the machine and having some
trouble to initiate start up or log in.
Also sometimes turning the Indexing services can help reduce or rid of the
issue, so if by going to the services and Disable the Indexing services can
help.
-- If you can log in and I assume you can hence you can Turn ON/OFF
services? should look for Error
messages in the Event Viewer and double click them to get more Info about the
Application, or the Hardware causing it.
-- If all wasn't of help then HDD going bad, so checking for the health of
the Hard drive by downloading the diagnostic tool will eliminate the HDD then
we proceed to test the Memory if it is bad or need repositioning in their
slots.

-- Also try to Test your memory by downloading this tool from here:
http://www.memtest86.com/
Download the Zip file and unzip to make a bootable CD and run it on Start Up
to test the memory.
Also look in the Device Manager for any malfunctioning Devices or conflict.

---Did you solved the ntdll.dll Issue? if not read here:
You have a hardware problem, or your boot loader is missing.
Try to look in the event Viewer for any error messages can shed some light
on the causer of this error.
On how to access the event Viewer do the following:
Open a run command and type in:
eventvwr.msc click [OK]
There double click the error messages (s) to get more info about it and you
can copy and past in your next post.
Also try to see if your power supply is Okay!.
Does this KB apply to your case?:
