Windows Vista Status.msi

I recently downloaded VB and SQL server 2008, which incidentally took forever. The problem since is that every time I fire up I get a message to say wait while windows configures status. Then when it doesn't another to say The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. CVlickOK to try again or enter an alternative path to a folder containing the installation package status.msi in the box below. After clicking cancel the first will try again four or five times and then again every 15 to 20 minutes. VB appears to be working OK. I just need to stop the above from driving me mad..........PLEASE
