Status Bar

Has anyone ever run into the problem where they want to
view an Excel file through Internet Explorer (because the
file will be updated regularly), but they want to be able
to activate the Status Bar in order to view summary
information for the current selection, like Sum, in the
status bar.

For some reason, when I'm viewing the Excel file through
Internet Explorer, the option under View, Status Bar is
greyed out (can't activate it). Also, can't choose it
through Tools, Options, View tab (also greyed out).

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Keith

Maybe you could have them access the file via a web page, but open it in excel
(not MSIE).

There's a setting in Windows that you can change.

In win98, I can do this:
Start Windows Explorer
View|Folder Options
File Types Tab
scroll down to MS Excel Worksheet
Select it
click the edit button
There's an option to "browse in same window". Uncheck it.

That's where you can toggle the "confirm open after download", too.
