Statis/popping sounds

When I "import" in I-tunes, when the CD is completed loading to the library, I get a very loud static or popping sound.

Any help?

Do you mean when the CD has finished being ripped? Mine plays a 2-second sound
file when that happens. Perhaps your sound file is corrupt. Try reinstalling
iTunes. The latest version is 4.6. http://www.itunes.com/
