Hi,

Just restored my forest root 2k server including system state everything
seems OK but I can't seem to get my static ip address etc to stick, after i
put in all my details ip, mask, gateway, dns and click OK then go back in to
the adapter and check its blank as if no details had been input, however if
i do an ipconfig it shows the address any help appreciated.

Remove/uninstall the NIC from device manager and let it re-detect. If that
still doesn't fix it, you have shards of stuff in your registry, in
HKLM\System\Current Control Set\Control\Network... and also likely in
controlset001 and 002.

You can remove the NIC in device manager again, and you need to be very
careful in the registry, of course, but you could *gingerly* go in and find
the references to the NIC, and remove them all - then let it redetect the
NIC in device manager.

This may be considered too much of a brute force approach, but it's worked
for me.
