Startup/Welcome Screen

Purchased used laptop. when starting, always went
directly to desktop. now i'm getting a "welcome" screen
and must cntrl-alt-delete to bypass. Went to user accts,
changed logon/logoff method by deselecting "welcome
screen" option. Restarted and was then brought to login
screen and prompted for a password using the previous
owner's name. I typed anything in the pswd box, got
incorrect pswd error msg, clicked cancel and it took me to
desktop again. There I reselected "welcome" screen
options under user acct as was before. Oh, before this,
it prompted me to change pswd w/1 day remaining notice.

Is there any way to boot directly to desktop bypassing
standard XP welcome/login/etc. screens? HELP!

Thanks in advance,

At the run prompt type control userpasswords2. Clear the check next to
'users must enter username...'. When you ok out, it will prompt you to enter
the user you want to log on automatically.
