Startup Problems

I have installed this amazing program, but it puzzles me... how do you get it
to start up when you log on (like antispyware does). I cant have realtime
protection if it doesnt start up when my computer turns on. Is there an
option to minimise it to the tray instead of it being on the taskbar? Please
help

What makes you think it is not started? Defender automatically starts when
someone logs on. You probably will not see the icon in the tray after a
while but the program keeps running...

is there any chance of seeing the icon there on next build update ?
imho i think it's good to see icon on systray, to know it's still alive &
working, rather than be afraid it's process might have been terminated by
some malicious spyware or hacker.

Its part of following the Vista user experience guidelines. You will not see
the tray icon if there isn't some action that defender needs you to take.

We have alreay a work item for the next release to provide an option for
admins to re-enable the tray icon. The default will be what you see today.

Yes, you will be protected as long as the defender process and service is
running. Tray icon is something that we will be using to notify you of any
actions you may need to take, if there are any.

Hi Jon,

Look in task manager for msascui.exe. We don't show the icon unless WD
needs something. We removed "all ok" icon from the systray to clean up
Vista's tray, but we're getting clear feedback we need to change this for
shipping OS'es.

Thanks for trying Windows Defender,
Joe

Joe, it's there. Thanks to you and Ravi for clarifying.

This error means that the malware was one or more files in an archive--a
zip, for example. Microsoft won't simply delete the archive file, in case
it contains other valuable data.
