Start up problem with Service pack 2

I have downloaded and installed XP service pack 2 from microsoft.com.
Previously, I was running Service pack 1. After installation of service pack
2, I can’t start up windows. I get the windows welcome message, then windows
restarts and the process repeats. Occasionally, after the welcome message,
desktop background appears with desktop icons and then computer restarts and
repeats the process. Before service pack 2 installation, I had EZ trust
firewall / antivirus program running in the computer. I don’t know whether
this has anything to do with it or not.

Can any one help me to resolve this problem?

Thanks.

Before you install SP2 you should have CHKDSK set up as xp restarts after the
SP2 installation completes.From here,install xp cd,boot to xp
cd,recovery,press
enter for password,select 1 for C: Once in recovery,type:CHKDSK C: /R When
its thru (15 min or so),type:EXIT Let xp start, remove cd.
