START The Task Bar do not show up on my screen

I have W/XP-SP2. I have reloaded W/XP several times on my computer (because
of hardware and changes made to my configuration) both using repair and
reload new. Every time everything works except that I have to access my
programs through the Task manger function-using Ctrl-Alt-Del. I cannot
access the START menu, control panel, Programs, etc... IE will not work
either. I can get out to the net using Firefox, etc.. I have a standard clone
windows set-up. Can anyone help me with this problem?
All help greatly appreciated and thank you. Ken

The 'changes made to hardware' are pretty likely to be the cause of that.
Remove the hardware, or find drivers that work for it to put on a floppy,
before you run setup.

I am having the same problem with my system. The only thing that appears on
startup is the desktop wallpaper. I can only access programs and files
through the task manager. The difference being I am not running SP2 nor have
I tried to reinstall XP. I have not installed any new hardware or software
prior to this issue. The only thing I did was deleted some items from the
control panel (add/remove).I tried to download current and updated versions
of IE and WMP but the system won't allow me. I looked in the BIOS/CMOS for
any changes but couldn't find any. Any advice on what to do next? I really
don't want to dump the system. Thanks.

Hii Mark,

Thanks for the input. I have tried this and also have tried Restore as you
suggest in the next post. Nothing I do seems to alleviate the problem. There
are programs and data on the drive that I really need to remove. As well I
want to know why this happened. I appreciate your your comments. Ken
