Start/Programs not alphabetic

I'm not sure if I've got a problem with my display adapter or XP, but I
can't right click on any of the programs when the list comes up under
Start/Programs. The programs are not alphabetic & under Win98 you could
right click & resort them. Can you do this in XP if so am I using the
correct method? When I do right click, the screen flickers as if a window
trys to open but can't. I have XP home SP1 and graphics adapter nvidia
GeForce FX 5200 128Mb using driver 5.6.72

Hi Tony,

See if this applies in your case:

Right click the Start button, select Properties, Customize. Scroll through
the options on the Advanced tab and put the check mark back in Enable
dragging and dropping.

If your right clicking abilities are more complexed, run this edit.

Enable or Disable the Right Click Context Menu (Line 56)

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.

Hi Tony,

IF your list of programs is not listed Alphabetically
then find a single program in the program list (one which
does not have a sub-menu)then right mouse button click on
it and choose 'Sort by Name'.

This will then list all the list alphabetically.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Kelly but I dont get the option to enable dropping & dragging when I
scroll thru the advanced tab!! I've also tried the tweaks you mentioned and
again that made no difference. Right clicking works everywhere else except
on Start/Programs.

thanks alot Mike. This has been one of those little things which made me
wonder if getting xp was the right choice at this time.
