Start menu shortcuts missing, help please.

I have lost all of the default Windows Vista start menu shortcuts. I did not
delete them, they just aren’t there anymore.

I recently removed my K-Lite Mega Codec Pack and installed the newer version
3.9. I also removed Cyberlink PowerDVD 7 Ultra and installed version 8 Ultra.

I only have five shortcuts left, Utorrent, windows update, 2 office 2007
shortcuts and default programs.

I only have one user account on my Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 (X86). I have
tried creating a new user account to copy the shortcuts back from, but since
they were removed from “All Users†(C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start
Menu), I cannot get them back.

Any ideas? Please help. Thank you.

I disabled system restore when I installed Vista. Never liked it, took too
much memory.

Any other ideas?

System Restore doesn't take any measurable amount of memory. (Or at
least on two cloned virtual machines, one with system restore enabled,
the other with it disabled, and both machines having been rebooted,
there is no difference.
Any other ideas?

Are the shortcuts still on the disk? User and System versions?

%userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu
%programdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu
