start menu bar stops responding

I am having a severe problem which occurs every time I restart my computer.
If I restart the computer and log on, the start menu bar has no function or
access and every time I put my cursor over it there is just a an hour glass
that never becomes a pointer. I can't click anything on the start menu bar
including tray icons, quick launch icons, or the start button. I have to go
into safe mode and restore the system everytime. Once I restore it,
everything is fine, but as soon as I restart the computer again, I have the
same problem occuring. Please help.
Thanks, Justin

Have you performed a scan looking for malware using ad-aware and
spybot?

Try downloading, installing and updating the
spyware removers from the links below. Run both of them.

Ad-aware

Spybot S&D

Also try to perform a clean boot, so you can identify which program is
interfering with explorer:

Thank you for taking the time to look into my issue. I have performed scans
with ad-aware and spybot, but I will download the latest versions and do
that again. I haven't looked into clean boots but I will try that. Please
keep in contact with me because you are the only person who has helped me
with the issue. Thank you.

Hi Justin.

You're welcome.
You might try going to the Control Panel in safe mode, to Internet
Options > Advanced options tab and check 'disable third-party browser
extensions.'

Good luck

I will try all this, but I am now having another problem. My Roxio Easy
CD\DVD Creator 6 is not installed correctly, and every time I try to
uninstall, install, or repair it, a Windows Installer box pops up (not the
one that I commanded) and won't go away, and more of them keep coming up and
they just say Installing Roxio Easy CD Creator 6 and then it says it can't
find the file to install. But I don't want those Windows Installer boxes up,
they just keep popping up during the process of me trying to reinstall
roxio.

Justin,

Go to regedit and locate the following key:
hkey_localmachine\software\microsoft\windows\current
version\installer. Try to find anything that matches up to your failed
roxio installation and delete it.

Thank you very much. Also every time I burn this particular DVD, it always
says "Roxio has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for
the inconvenience." How do I stop this??

Hi,

Is the DVD a brand supported by your DVD burner?
IIRC, there exist different brands of DVD, DVD- DVD+ and so on, and
not all burners can deal with them.
