standby & hibernation

I can't put my computer in standby or hibernate. It turns itself back on at
once. I read in one of the threads that someone had a conflict with Spyware
Doctor and that resolved the problem--but I don't know what to do, uninstall
completely? I recently upgraded to SD5. Even if I disable, the computer
still won't standby.

If i uninstall SD completely, is Bitdefender enough to protect? Bitdefender
never seems to find anything while SD does, so it's a concern.

Am using XP Home.

I have had this sort of prob. for a long time. From wat I understand if you
are using a desktop pc these features may not always work. These power
features were made more for laptops. If you find a solution I'd love to know
it.
