Sreen Saver stopped working

After I purchased a MS Wireless Multimedia Keyboard 1.1 and MS Standard
Wireless Optical Mouse (they came as a set ). I installed the drivers and
began using the wireless keyboard and mouse and the screen saver will not
function. I have tried all kinds of options and reconnected the mouse and
keyboard, but the screen saver will not activate when it times out and
should work. If I preview, the mouse will reactivate the desktop and will
do the same when I choose to use standy to shut down the monitor when I set
a time for it to shut off. I think the mouse or the keyboard are causing
the problem, but I don't know how to fix it. Any suggestions?
