SQL Server Mobile Edition & C# on the Desktop

Hi ,

Perhaps this is the wrong place for this post but it seemed to fall between
several stools.

At the moment we create SQL CE databases on the PDA programmatically.

With the release of SQL Server 2005 (Yukon) you will be able to create
and modify SQL Server Mobile databases using the SQL server GUI.

Does anyone know will you be able to programmatically create modify ,
populate SQL Server Mobile databases on the desktop ?

You can just reference the sqlce (or whatever it's going to ultimately be
called) dll and do it directly. Not only can you edit the db from Sql
Workbench, you can run Sql Mobile on the desktop/laptop/tablet. There's no
difference in how you'd do it if you were writing on the CF. Both of these

One clarification : Can SQL Server Mobile databases be created in Visual
Studio.net 2005 from various datasources . Will the functionality be limited
by integration with SQL Server. My understanding was the DB could be
populated by any suitable data but others are telling me it is tightly
integrated with SQL Server.
