Sql Query sytax

I'm trying to use the Inner Join syntax with the table alias syntax and I'm
getting an error, but the syntax looks valid to me, can anybody see what I'm
doing wrong?

Select apartments.rent
from apartments as apts
left outer join
advertisments
on advertisments.ApartmentID = apartments.ApartmentID

I keep getting the error "Syntax error in JOIN operation"

If you're going to use an alias, you need to, well, use the alias! :)

Select apts.rent
from apartments as apts
left outer join
advertisments
on advertisments.ApartmentID = apts.ApartmentID

If you are aliasing a Table, you need to use the alias instead of the Table
name when you want to qualify the Fields from the Table. Something like:

SELECT apts.rent
FROM apartments AS apts
LEFT JOIN advertisements
ON apts.ApartmentID = advertisements.ApartmentID
