spyware program

I am getting irritated and confused. I downloaded spysweeper and ran it. It
shows that I have multiple threats. One of them is the aboutblank thing,
one is ezula, etc. My problem is when I go through the registry to delete
these things, they're not there (I am following manual removal instructions
from more than one source). So I downloaded cwshredder and ran it. It says
I don't have any of the cw threats. Is spysweeper faking it?!

Thank you,
J Siers

CWShreader was designed to detect and (hopefully) remove CoolWebSearch.
Don't expect it to detect malware that isn't part of CoolWebSearch.

For help with Spy Sweeper, contact Spy Sweeper technical support. If SS
detected malware that it cannot remove, technical support can help you.
But keep two things in mind: Not all malware can be completely removed,
and a computer that has been compromised with multiple types of malware
is frequently not salvageable.

Half of the threats spysweeper finds is cool web junk. the aboutblank is
cw-aboutblank, etc. I am using the free spysweeper. When I look up what
spysweep found and follow instructions for how to manually remove, the files
are not there. I haven't found anything negative about spysweeper, but it
looks like it's 'finding' threats that don't truly exist.

The 'free' version of Spy Sweeper is the trial version, which may or may
not have the full capabilities of the paid version. In any case, the
place to ask questions about Spy Sweeper is Webroot technical support,
not a newsgroup for Windows XP.

Did you look in spy sweepers quarantine folder? maybe it has already removed
these items.
Note: the last version of CWShedder is 2.19 which is over a year old (out of
date), still good to keep around but out of date.
