SpyBot S&D

I was having a lot of problems with SpyBot, from which I also used the
Resident shield. It continually asked me if I wanted a certain change to my
startup programs. If I clicked Yes, it would give me about ten of the
rectangular Resident shields and kept asking the same question. So I
clicked No and it did the same thing. So I removed it. I have enough other
spyware without that one. Now that I've removed it, the problem is moot, but
does anyone else have a similar problem?

It would depend on what you were being asked to approve.

If you were installing a program that was making multiple changes to the
registry/startup it could/should ask you to confirm them individually.
I like the teatimer myself. I always have it on when installing a new
program so that at least if I don't know enough to say Deny I can look at the
changes made later (I caught the Superantispyware "winlogon" entry that way)

So what were the changes it was asking you to Allow or Deny.
I hope you know.

I wish I had written it down. But I do remember that it was exactly the
same item And it kept doing this on three consecutive bootups. And it kept
flashing those rectangular squares ad nauseum, which I could not remove. So
I removed the program.

Hello someone,

Now give a try to
WinPatrol - (Free)

http://www.winpatrol.com

Although not an anti-spyware or anti-virus software, WinPatrol runs in your
system tray to monitor any changes that spyware or malware can install or run
while you’re surfing the internet, especially if you’re running Internet
Explorer.

I do have WinPatrol. I think that was part of my problem. I have too many
gizmos. Over half-a-dozen antispy/sparm ware and I have AVG Plus, which
includes spyware. I'm covered.
