I'm with you, Robin. The already-released v 1.5 was a 'Final' version, not a
Beta.

I'm staying with v 1.4 for now.

I've been running 1.5.0 for a good while now - without issues.
As soon as I take the new build for a test-drive, I'll post back.

well i downloaded it for vista and i do not like it
I had the rc1 last version and that had no problems.
When i try to immunize it tells me I do not have administrative privlieges
and than stops responding
If i right click on the icon and click open as adminstrator it opens and
immunize but then again the whole program locks up.
I will leave my 1.4 on my xp computer- that works fine

Why run a Release Candidate?

You should at least upgrade to v 1.5 - *if* you can find it.

I just finished downloading and installing ver. 1.5.2.
Results/impressions:
1. _Much_ faster startup and update application (my main gripe
with ver. 1.5.1)
2. Improved updater with 'Cancel' option.
3. Clean install over previously installed ver. 1.5.1
4. No nasty surprises otherwise.

I didn't have the 'double immunize' problem, so I can't comment
on that.

With "final version" I mean of 1.5.2; previously there was 1.5.0 and
1.5.1 official releases.

Robin, I downloaded this new version and used it with no problems on a
Win2K box -- a big improvement over the last series of no-go's. Will let
you know how my XP boxes workout.

XP Pro, SP2, fully updated. Using AVG Pro 7.5 and Windows
Defender for AV and AS duties.

It adds the latest known bad guys to the system's HOSTS when
immunizing the system. I start with the MVPs HOSTS file. Spybot
1.5 updates usually add more.
and should it be checked?

Definitely.

I just put it on a clients xp home computer with no issues- spybot was never
on it before
I have not put it on my computers yet
except for vista

Robin,

If you had 1.4 on that system before, it is recommended that you
uninstall it before installing 1.5.x. Before uninstalling, it is also a
good idea to un-immunize (Undo) all, and immunize all after installing
1.5.x and downloading the updates.

Upgrading from 1.5.x to 1.5.2 should be fine.

The final version of Spybot Search and Destroy v1.5.2.20 is now available.

N.B. not all of the mirrors above offer the 1.5.2 download yet.
The download file name is spybotsd152.exe with a size of 9.495KB.

I've been using Spybot 1.5.2 for a few days and it seems very stable.
No bugs found yet. Previous beta versions of 1.5 on my PC would not
immunize everything. Now it does.
