Spooler Subsystem: Is it dangerous?

J

Jim

Since I installed McAfee firewall, I have been getting warnings that
"Spooler Subsystem" has been trying to access the internet, mainly
when you open and close certtain programs. I have been denying access
to the internet for this spooler.

Can anyone explain just what this spooler subsystem does and why is it
trying to access the internet? It sounds unnecessary that any
spooler would need internet access.

AFAIK, when the system boot, the spooler (responsible for printing function)
will initialize, as this time, it will open several ports for listening.
This is normal and is not caused by a virus. However this behavior triggers
the mcafee firewall. I believe this will not harm your system security. You
can choose "no, deny this time" when mcafee popup window appears. Or you can
set up a rule to automatically disable it.
