Splitting one cell into three.

Try to split a cell in Excel 2000.

in one excel cell the following information is recorded.

..032 x 6 x 12.5 2024-t3 clad

If I can pull out the information .032, 6, and 12.5 to three separate
cells I can then use formula to calculate cost, number of parts, etc.
I know how to combine the information into on cell, just not how to
split it out. the thickness is always .xxx, but the width and length
change in decimal 12 or 12.5 or even 12.63. I wouldn't mind
information on the groups you send it out to as well, If it is not a
secret.

Thank you

Assuming your data is as described, and the cells containing the data are in a
column, you could use the Data/Text to Columns tool.

1. Select the cells with the data
2. Select Data/Text to Columns
Step 1 of 3
Delimited
Next
Step 2 of 3
Select
<space>
Other: x
Treat consecutive delimiters as one
Step 3 of 3

Select Columns 4 and 5
Select Do not import column (skip)
<Finish>

You will now have your data split into three cells.

Do you have a whole column of these values to split?

If yes, then insert 3 columns to the right of the column with data
Select the column with data
Data|Text to columns
Delimited (by space and check Treat consecutive delimiters as one)
Then choose to skip the x's and the stuff after the 3rd value (12.5 in your
sample)

Heck, this will work even if you only have one cell, too.

I don't understand the last part of your question, though.
