Spiking Deferred Procedure Calls

Hi! I was noticing that my mouse pointer "sticks" on the
screen about every second, and when I use a third party
software that can view processes and stuff it shows that
my PCs "deferred procedure calls" are spiking about 30% in
unison with the mouse sticking. What could be causing this
and how do I stop it? Thanks.

I would perform a repair install of Win XP to over write
your corrupt system and corrupt files. You will not lose
data this way.

You should definitely perform a virus and spyware scan to be safe:

For a virus scan, see:

Joe, did you ever find a solution to your problem?? It appears that I have the same problem of the DPC spiking my CPU at about 50-60%. If you did find a solution, could you please tell me what it was. Also, does anyone else have a possible solution to this delima. Thanks.

I forgot to mention that I have already checked for spy/ad ware using Ad-Aware Professional and SpyBot 1.3. I also ran a full system anti-virus/trojan scan with nothing detected. I even went so far as the delete my history, cookies, and files on IE and even performed a Disk Cleanup on the harddrive. If I have missed anything, let me know. Thanks.
