Hi Betroo,
Good catch. I'll switch my recommendation to another program now:
1. To see if it's a software conflict: Temporarily disable Startup
programs one at a time, starting with Firewall, Antivirus, etc. using:
http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/autoruns.shtml
* To disable an auto-start entry uncheck its check box.
Since safe mode loads only the basic drivers, perhaps your a device
driver including the Video driver could be causing the issue:

| Hi Jimmy S.,
| Thanks for sticking with me on this.
| I took your suggestions. The first one included an outdated link, but I
| downloaded a program "Startup Faster! 2004" which has the disable startup
| program feature. I disabled each program and tried running Spider with no
| luck.
|
| Then I ran the online virus scan you referred to. No viruses were found.
| Then I downloaded and ran Spybot which found about 50 Ad cookies and one
| other called "DSO Exploit" which changes the registry. It is described as a
| security hole in IE. I also ran the immunization feature with Spybot and it
| blocked all problems.
|
| So I uninstalled Spider, shut down, rebooted, ran Spybot to stop "DSO
| Exploit" again, then installed Spider. Still the error message.
|
| I think I'm running smoother, better protected, but can't play Spider except
| in Safe Mode. Any other thoughts will be appreciated. Thanks!
