Spell Checking does not work in OE:
http://mvps.org/PracticallyNerded/OE/OE_Spell check.htm
Or:
http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/spellcheck.htm

And: An error occurred while the spelling was being checked or: Spell Check
was halted:

Neither Windows XP, nor any other version of Windows, has ever
come with a Spell Checking facility. Outlook Express uses the
spell checker that comes with Microsoft Word, (or another
Microsoft Office program) if you have it installed. The spell
checker that comes with Works does *not* work with Outlook
Express.

If you don't have Word or Office installed, you probably don't
have a spell checker. However there are several downloadable
freeware/shareware alternative spell checkers that work with
Outlook Express and Outlook. Since I have no personal experience
with any of these, I'll let someone else recommend one.

*Some* Works versions do have the capability, but I don't know which ones.

Download a free Spell Check at one of these sites:

http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=2952

http://www.megspace.com/computers/tinyspell/ (Checks the spelling as you
type).

As far as I know, Bruce, only Works *Suite* has a spell checker
that Outlook Express and Outlook can use. That's because Works
*Suite* (as opposed to plain Works, which I assume he
has,)includes Microsoft Word.

That must be the *version* I was told about. I'll make the adjustment.
Thanks for the heads-up.
