spell checker in outlook express 6.0 sp1

Spell checker displays in outlook express, but when clicked, displays "An error ocured when checking spelling"

Winxp is installed on the C: partition and office is installed on the extended partition of this drive, in my case E:

Im wondering if this is caused by the fact that outlook cannot find the spell checking file within word because it's on a different partition ?

Can any one assist me in this........please
