Spell Checker does not work in Outlook Express

I tried using the spell checker in Outlook Express in XP and it says that the
spell checker has been halted or stopped..............I reinstalled office 97
but for some reason it will not work..............any suggestions??

Outlook Express is part of Windows, not Office. The Office 97 email
client is Outlook 97 or 98.

But OE uses the spell checker in any Office module........
