Spell Check

Lou

I have Word 2007 student version and the spell check is not working. I have
been through all the normal routes, checked that all the boxes are ticked, or
not ticked as the case may be but still not luck. The grammar is being
underlined in green but no spelling mistakes are showing up. Can anyone
please please help?
Thanks

Please confirm that, on the Spelling & Grammar dialog options, "Check
spelling as you type" is checked, and "Hide spelling errors in this document"
is unchecked, and "Check grammar with spelling" is checked.

I have the same problems as Lou, I am confirming to you that the options
Check spelling as you type is selected, hide spelling errors in this document
is unchecked, and check grammar with spelling is checked.

Also, I do remember that this issue first start to occur when I upgraded
outlook and I receive a message mentioning that outlook could not locate
word, and it would use outlook to edit the messages.

Another detail is that English is set as the used language.

I feel that the reason is that word does not know where is the location of
the dictionary it needs to use to perform the check spelling.

Thanks for any help in advance

Hey Lou,

If you ever check here again or to anybody having issues with the spell
checker not working after making sure all the settings were correct in word
the solution is the following:

Go to start, and the click on run.
On the window that opens type regedit and click OK
This will open the Registry Editor, in here you want to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Shared Tools/Proofing Tools/1.0

At this location you want to right click on the override folder and delete.
Click yes when the system ask you if you want to delete the key and all
subkeys.

Open word and spell checker should work.
