Speeding up Vista

I have not bought Vista yet because of the performance issue. Can the
memory hungry parts of be tweaked?

Thanks;

The only thing I did was disable aero and use the windows vista basic
scheme. This seemed to speed up things quite a bit. Have not done
anything else.

The only game/sim I play is MS flight simulator FSX and it works very well.

There are a couple of things key to getting decent performance. Make sure
the hardware is current and 100% Vista compatible. Don't upgrade from XP. Do
a clean install then transfer your data. Vista will never perform as fast as
XP on the same hardware. Just as XP won't be as fast as Windows 2000 or
Fedora 7 won't be as fast as Fedora 4. Operating Systems evolve to use the
capabilities of the current hardware.

Really???? What frame rates are you getting? I hadn't heard of too
many simmers claim that FSX actually works "very well". I've tried it
and immediately went back to FS9, which DOES work well, with far faster
frame rates. I don't consider frame rates below 20 to be acceptable.

you can speed it up of you go to the empire state building and drop it from
there...

thats the only way you are going to have vista go fast...

sorry

not true the only way to make vista go extremely fast is on a shuttle
ride(30000miles an hours at somepoint), but then again you wouldn't want the
shuttle computer to run vista they might do like colombia shuttle lol

falling down from sky you can only go 120miles an hour for a human, you know
it's strange it feels like my vista is on drugs when i got it it was slow,
now i click on a window and half a second after the screen is fully loaded,
i never heard of OS taking speed(drugs)
