Special Characters in AutoCorrect

I am trying to assign the less-than-or-equal-to symbol to the phrase "=<" in
the AutoCorrect tab of the AutoCorrect Window. When I do this, the output is
indeed the less-than-or-equal-to symbol, but it does so in the font SimSun.
How do I do this so that it automatically replaces it in the normal text font
(i.e. Times New Roman)?

I would choose a font that contains that symbol and use it on the entire
document. Most non-standard fonts do not include anything but letters and
numbers and do not include symbols or fractions.

Just my 2 cents.
