I started getting web pop-ups from"grocerycouponsdirect.com I have my
windows XP popup killer enable. Zone alarm, antivirus etc. Have cleaned out
references in registry. However, it suddenly pops up on my screen.
Obviously, I'm using cable access, which is on all the time. How can I stop
this from happening. Thanks

What you've listed is a good start. However, with the treat level on
the web you need some type of "Real-Time" protection. AdAware
and Spybot only detect/remove malware. Actually, Spybot does
provide an Immunization feature that helps. Along with that it would
help to tighten up browser security and Cookie handling. For the
real time protection I would recommend you download & install the
Microsoft AntiSpyware software. Technically, a beta it would give
you the additional protection you need against Malware

I'm not clear -- on you online when this happens or are the popups on
your desktop? If you're online, what browser are you using?

First eliminate any spyware.

CAUTION!!!!! Removing some spyware can damage the Winsock stact. Before
you try to remove spyware using any of these programs , download a copy of
LSP-Fix - a free program to repair damaged Winsock 2 stacks (all Windows
versions) so that the program will be available after removing the spyware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:

Allow me to recommend the Google toolbar for IE. It gives you a popup
blocker that works well.
