Spam Inspector Support

Much like the other post in this forum, I too am in need of support for my
Spam Inspector software. I have been running this software for almost two
years and hadn't had any problems until about 4 months ago. Just in the last
month, it stopped working completely. I sent emails to their technical
support and also was directed to this forum. Their website is of no help,
and frankly it seems pretty useless to bother trying to salvage this
application. I might as well go purchase another spam filter somewhere else.
If Microsoft is going to acquire a company, the least they could do is
continue to support the customers they've just acquired as well.

Microsoft is supposed to be providing the same level of support as Giant did
for the remainder of the contract period for the Giant apps.

Unfortunately, I know of no one in these groups who has any experience at
all with this application, so it is very poor practice for Microsoft to
refer people here.

I really don't know what more to suggest--if there's a phone number, I
recommend using that, rather than email. I don't know about Microsoft, but
for many vendors, the process of recording and auditing phone conversations
means that issues handled by that means are at least "by the book" --not,
perhaps, satisfactory, but better than being brushed off to a forum where
there is explictly no support for this product.

Thank you for the quick response Bill. I would happily call someone for
assitance however I don't believe there is a phone number anywhere to be
found on the Giant Software website. If you know of a number that I can
call, I'd be happy to try that.

I dug through the site for a bit, but it looks like the online support form
is all there is.

There's also a FAQ question about definition updates which still appears in
the list but the response seems to be gone.

Not a good sign.

I don't know anything at all about the product at all, I'm afraid, and I
haven't seen any other posts here about it with the exception of a
handful--maybe 3--like yours, over the course of the year since the
acquisition.

I really don't know what recourse you have. I don't know what form of
"contract" for support was included with the original product. Microsoft
inherited all the obligations under such contracts with the purchase, I
suspect.

I have the same issues and just want to remove the program but it won't let
me. Says I have an invalid registration key. Which is crazy since I paid for
the thing. I tried to use all the online tools (reg key retreival gives some
sort of SQL error) and sent support emails only to get back automated
response that someone will contact us in 12 - 24 hours never to hear from
anyone. I have tried 5 times over 4 months. I did some digging around and
found out the President of Giant Software is still registered as Ron
Franczyk. I found his home address, maybe I'll have my attorney send him a
letter, I'm so pissed.

I've had no success that I am aware of in trying to push such support issues
through other channels. I'll make one more attempt--it seems to me that
maintaining the automated support tools in working order is a minimal
requirement.

I don't know whether you've had any further success contacting the Giant
support folks. Microsoft is working on the issues you've raised, but some
of the technical issues may not be completely solved. Please retry the
things you were trying, and see whether they succeed, or whether
alternatives are now available. If they still fail, try again in a few days
or a week, if this issue is still important to you--the issues you raised
are being worked on.
