Space used on new SATA drive?

New 250GB SATA drive, partitioned in two and formatted NTFS.
Have also Primary IDE Master and Secondary IDE Slave.
Have put no files on either partition yet on each it shows 2 files.
On one files are:
8485E000-F1DE0D79 and 8485E000-F1DE0D79_Backup, each 4KB.
Same on the other, just different numbers.
What puzzles me is that Properties for each partition show 68MB used!
What's using that space and what are the two files on each partition?
Answers appreciated.

Space is used by the Master File Table.
