SP4 event viewer bug?

We have several customers with corrupted or empty event logs. There are also
different symptoms: The empty event log can be exported and reimported as a
saved log, the entries are then visible, the log is visible from another
machine etc. On some systems, the system stopped logging system events until
the system event log is cleared.

We have discoverd the problem only on Windows 2000 Server systems with SP4
installed.

Is this a known problem? Is there a patch available? Have others the same
problem?

I am having the same problem after applying SP4 on one of
my Win2000 server. The other 3 servers are running OK.
Still can't get any answer from Microsoft. Seems like
they are ignoring the complaint. Maybe I should persuade
the company to switch to Linux!!!
