sp4 and Office programs-reinstall programs?

I downloaded all of my current updates for W2K and
included in this was SP4 which I think caused my problem
(below).

After downloading and installing all of this stuff, the
computer won't find my Office programs(any of them). I
saw an article on Microsoft.com that talks about this
problem with SP3, but I tried one of the fixes and it
doesn't work. Does anyone know of any solution to this
problem?

I have office 2000 and SP 4 but I downloaded the updates prior to installing
Office and have had no problems with either.

Try a repair install of Office. If that doesn't work roll back to SP3.
I've found SP4 to be buggy on some machines and the only solution I've
found in some of these cases is to stay at SP3.

Thanks for the help all. I ended up finding out that it
was the same problem as quoted with SP3. In case anyone
else has this problem, the solution is below. The problem
was that SP4 uses windows installer version 2 and SP2
(which I upgraded from) used version 1. Version 2 didn't
have the registry values to know that I had installed all
of those programs already, so it was telling me to install
them when I would try to use them.

I had to find the file Msiregmv.exe on my machine. This
file was downloaded with SP4, but never run apparently.
All you have to do is double click it. It takes all of
your windows installer 1.x registry values and adds them
to your windows installer 2.x registry data.

Good you found the solution and reported here. Can you share where you
found this information please?

Thanks,
Steve
