SP3 and domain problem

Sorry if this isn't the correct place for this but I could not find an
appropriate group.
I have splipstreamed SP3 and installed on new machines. After installing
all programs I joined the domain. The first few logins are fine then I get
domain not found when trying to log in. My only solution so far is to
remove the machine from the domain and rejoin. This has happened on all 5
machines I have done so far. Since this mysteriously happened after
original successful logins to the domain, I am worried that it might
resurface down the road.
The domain controller is Windows 2003. The machines are new Lenovos,
core2duo 2.33 with 2 gigs ram and Intel boards. The machines come loaded
with Vista and we downgrade them to XP as we are not ready for Vista. We
have 60 or so of these with SP2 that do not have this problem. Would like
to find an answer before I start using an image to load on new machines.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

Interesting - what do you get in the event logs? I haven't installed SP3
anywhere yet, but do you have a working "test" XP Pro SP2 box you can use to
upgrade to SP3 to experiment for a while? That way you're only changing one
thing.

Hi Jamo,

You state this has happened only on "new machines". Have you tried just
upgrading any XP SP2 machines yet? I have installed SP3 on a few dozen
workstations on WS2003 domains so far and have not had any issues. But
I haven't set up a clean install with SP3 yet.

Thanks for the replies.
I haven't tried upgrading SP2 machines yet. Might be awhile before I get
around to that. Just working on new machines at the moment.
Thanks

As I suggested, it would be useful to try this with a functioning XP Pro SP2
machine as a test. That changes only *one* thing. Your new machines have
many new variables.
