after updating sp2 computer locked up tried repair with windows xp home disk
and when it gets to loading devices it gets to 65% and screen goes black and
system locks up with the mouse pointer in a little box?

Hi,

Did you try to boot in safe mode after the installation of SP2. Is it able
to work.

Yes it will not let me in safe mode
