SP2 Upgrade Includes Spyware?

C

confused

I recently downloaded and installed the Windows XP Service
Pack 2 upgrade. After an anti-spyware scan, I discovered 3
registry entries associated with the MS Media Player that
were identified as spyware. At the advice of my anti-
spyware software I deleted the entries.

I find spyware really troubling and I'd like to know why
it was installed on my system.

Possibly the entries you can disable inside of Media Player - they're under
the "Privacy" tab. IIRC, "Send unique Player ID to content providers,"
something in the cookies setting there as well, and the "Customer Experience
Improvement Program."

Yeah, they're disabled on install here.
