SP2 Update Caused Error and Must be Shut Down?

I've update two of my machines (laptop and desktop) to SP2 recently. Both
suffered from the SP2 installation causing an error and subsequently needing
to "be shut down" (or closed, I forget). I'm assuming that the install
completed, as everything appears to be SP2. The crash in the install
happened on both of them during the final "clean up" stage. Progress bar
was only about 3/4 of the way to completion. Both also indicated via the
Windows Update site that the install had failed, yet it appears to have been
successful, and Windows Update no longer offers SP2 to me.

To cut things short, what exactly was the SP2 install "cleaning up," and can
I delete the remaining cleanup items myself, provided someone knows, and can
tell me, their location? My C: drive is quite full, and I would like to get
rid of any excess junk that may not have been removed as it should have
been.

Thanks for advice and info...

Nobody has ANY idea?

From what I get, SP2 was installed, but the "cleanup" never finished...
What exactly is being cleaned up and where? I'd like to manually remove the
"junk," if possible. HD space on my "system" drive is at a premium
presently.

Thanks again...

Don't know if this will help but look at the clean up section in this link.
