Not learning my lesson from my laptop experience with SP2 -- posted
earlier -- I let my desktop download and install the wonderful
package.
Now I have no Start bar / Menu!
The boot-up routine seems to proceed normally -- I'm allowed to log in
and my wallpaper appears -- and then a "blank" Start bar appears. If
I place the cursor on the bar, it shows an hourglass for maybe 20
seconds, then the hourglass disappears, and so does the Start bar,
never to return.
After that, mouse clicks on the desktop do nothing. I can open
Windows Task Manager with Cntrl / Alt / Delete and that will let me
get a Run command line. However, I don't know where to go to initiate
a dial-up connection or to re-instate the Start bar.
Microsoft is wonderful.
