sp2 slow startup

loaded sp2 on my computer and now it takes forever to
show the taskbar and icons. I removed and restalled same
thing but if I bring it up in safe mode it comes up fast.

Just as an aside. The reason it comes up fast in safe mode is because
its just basic windows without any of your specific drivers running.

I'm having the exact same problem.
Bootup is fast, but upon clicking the user to log-in, the system slows
remarkably, sometimes taking >5 minutes to actually reach the stage
where the taskbar and icons show up. Making things even more awkward
is that in this time, neither the CPU nor the harddisk is running,
meaning its just sitting idle!!!

Any answers would be much much appreciated!
