SP2 Issue

I recently uninstalled SP2 for various reasons. My computer is now working
okay except for the following oddities:

1. My system properties window still indicates SP2 and not SP1.

2. When I go to the Microsoft update site and search for updates the SP2
update is not listed, which it should be if SP2 was indeed uninstalled.

3. When I try to run System File Checker it indicates that I need to insert
the SP2 disc instead of the Win XP disc, like it always has previously
before the SP2 install and removal.

It seems that some parts of SP2 must still be installed. I used the
Add/Remove program to uninstall. Does any know how I can remedy the
situation?

I just tried all the methods without any results:

There is no option in Add/Remove. Computer could not find
$NtServicePackUninstall$ folder. System Restore points do not go past
install date of SP2. And when I try to perform System Recovery, computer
will not acknowledge admin password. I thought my password was none/ blank,
but when I just pressed enter it would not allow further access, indicating
invalid password. Where can I go from here? Should I reinstall SP2 and
then try uninstall again?

Follow the instructions here to remove SP2:

I haven't run across this problem before as you explain it, but I
would give that a try. And hope it doesn't say it's already
installed. If you're successful, then remove as per the instructions
on the link.

Thanks for your help. I will try the reinstall, probably when I receive the
cd from Microsoft.

If the SP2 reinstall/uninstall doesn't work, then try a repair install
using your installation CD, and if that doesn't work then a clean install.
