SP2 Installed - More missing apps

A

Ann B.

I installed SP2 yesterday. Today I wanted to use Calc.exe and found
in C:\I386 instead of the path the desktop shortcut had been pointing
to. I changed the shortcut path to point to Calc where it now is
instead of where it was. Will this be a problem?

Wordpad is also missing. When I click on the desktop icon for it I
get a message:
"The C:\I386\AUTOCHK.EXE application cannot be run in WIN32 mode."

Seems the Wordpad desktop icon is pointing to a different app. I
found Wordpad.exe in C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386 and in
C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download\.....
I created a new desktop icon pointing to the ServicePack path and it
works OK.

Can someone tell me in which directories these two apps belong after
SP2 has been loaded?

Thanks so much.

Paul & Ken - are you there???

Cheers,
Ann

Hello.

wordpad.exe should be located in c:\program files\windows nt\accessories\
calc.exe should be located in c:\windows\system32\

I think it would be best to use the Windows file checker to fix everything
up:

Start
-> Run
--> type sfc /scannow and press enter

Hopefully that will fix things up, good luck!

Hi Paul;
Thanks for the help!! I ran the utility you suggested. It didn't
give a report; just ended.
So I searched for calc.exe after running sfc /scannow and it is
showing up in C:\WINDOWS\LastGood\system32\dllcache
notepad.exe is now showing up C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 as well as the other
places.

What now??

Regards,
Ann

Hi Again :),
Wordpad is probably OK because when I access it through START ->
Programs -> Accessories it is there and can be invoked. It's the
..exe in SYSTEM32 that's the target.

So I think calc.exe is the only outstanding problem now; till the next
one, that is. :)
