SP2 Hangs on boot up

Hello

I have just tried to install SP2 and following the reboot
the machine hangs with the BIOS asking me to select 'last
good configuration' - which doesn't work either.

I can access in safe mode but the only way to re-boot is
to remove SP2.

I have an AMD64 FX53 motherboard.

Any ideas??

Regards

Mike

I've also had major problems with XP SP2.

The advice i'm getting, (in droves from non-MS user sites I've used for
years and mostly trust), is that I'm an idiot for installing SP2 in the first
place, (I agree with them unfortunately), and the only reliable answer is an
f-disk.

Re-formatting is the only answer at the moment apparently, sorry if this
isn't the news you were wanting to hear, I didn't want to hear it either but
I've tried almost everything else so far.

Good luck,
Dar.
