SP2-- fewer file types that can be opened in IE?

Hi everyone,

We use an activeX plugin in our website, which allows us
to view tiff images and print them. Viewing is still
fine, but the printing portion is bombing out now, post
SP2.

The plugin prints like this: when you click the print
icon, a small .tmp file is created on your hard drive and
a second browser window opens up and reads the file. The
tmp file itself is just a list of URLs with the tiff
images to be printed, one per image.

The local .tmp file is still being created with no
problems. However, IE now has trouble opening the file --
some sort of security warning-- and an error is the result.

Did SP2 change the types of files you can open in a
browser? Is it still possible to open tmp files in the
browser after tweaking a browser setting or two? Thanks
for any and all advice on what's happening, and any
workarounds that might be available.

Try putting the site into the "Trusted sites" group in IE. If it works,
then you can start playing with the custom security settings until you
figure out what precise tweaks you need.
