It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware.

other appropriate forum for expert analysis, not here.**
2. Do not install SP2 until an expert gives your HijackThis log a clean

While trying to update a laptop from base to sp2, I get "Failed to
install
catalog files" & quits.
There is 30GB free space. Is there a service turned off? I have found RPC
service off & networks service also.
What is the error?

Well, since I have run all the 'checkers' and foung nothing to cause this
,
decided to upgrade to XP Pro/sp2, that problem solved. Had install disk
anyway, just didn't want the hassle. Oh, well.
