Sp/1 files/folders to delete ?

E

Ed.

In the past whenever I did install of XP without service packs as my CD
didn't contain any, I would install the redistributable SP/2. There were
files and folders you could delete afterwards that weren't needed.

For SP/1 for Vista what files and where are they that we can delete after
SP/1 is installed ?

Thanks,
Ed.

There is a cleanup tool included with the SP1 update.

***NOTE: After you use this cleanup tool, you will no longer be able to
remove Service Pack 1, should any problems occur. Make sure that the system
is stable before using.

Open Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\Windows\System32. Look for the file
"vsp1cln.exe."

Right click this file and select the 'Run As Administrator' option.

The Vista Service Pack 1 Cleanup Tool will remove all of the redundant files
that it has replaced.

The amount of disk space you gain will depend on the system, what files are
installed, etc.

Let us know how it works for you.

Thank You for the reply. I did what you suggested.

Before I did it my C: drive had 25.4 GB used on it - 27,297,529,856 bytes.

After I did it my C: drive had 24.6 GB used on it - 26,441,723,904 bytes.
