soundmax help

from time to time the sound desappear and the soundmax icon also desappear
from the task bar. to solve the problem partialy, I have to go to the control
panel, and to the audio control panel. there I have to change the spikers
configuration from two chanels out mode to four chanels out mode or viceversa.
May some one help me guiding me to solve the problem please? Many thanks
