Soundmax drivers

Does anyone know if Asus intend releasing updated Soundmax audio drivers for
vista ?
I have emailed them on this issue but all I get is an auto response thanking
me for my interest, but no real response.
The drivers in question are for a socket 478 board (P4P800S-X) I'm getting
this bad feeling that they may not offer updates for this board anymore
considdering it's age and the fact that since it's release newer models have
come on the market.

I've got a K8V which is not that old. I'm sure they'll get around to it. A
lot of people have Soundmax on their board. Right now, though, the generic
"VIA AC'97" that Vista installed seems to be working fine.

The "VIA AC'97" works for me too but it doesn't give me sound in media
center
To have sound in media center I have to install the XP drivers for soundmax
in compatibility mode, the main issue with that is that occasionally it
stops working and I need to reinstall the drivers.

Thats the one I recieved too through update but with the newer one it didn't
let me have sound in media center

The default Via driver works for stereo, my rear speakers hoewver do not
work. I cannot find where to change these settings. I have a K8V.

That is exactly the same for me and the default driver doesn't give 5.1
surround or give me sound in media center either
The Xpo drivers installed in compatibility mode do give me sound in media
center but it's only basic stereo, It won't give me 5.1 surround because the
codec that comes with the Xp drivers isn't supported in viata media center.
So as far as I can tell at this stage I'll either have to wait untill fully
supported drivers are released, or buy a sound card that is fully supported
by vista.

Try using the driver that came with the motherboard ( the original driver).
I had the same problem. Vista installed a driver during setup and I had no
audio in Media Center. I installed the original driver that came with the
motherboard and everything works fine now.

Beware Vista Drivers
