soundcard problem

I recently installed an Delta Audiophile 2496 soundcard on my Gateway computer and can't seem to get any sound from my computer speakers. I was wondering if "disabling" the old soundcard would help this problem. If so, how do I go about disabiling a soundcard? Any input /ideas is greatly appr.--

If it's a PCI slot Sound Card then just remove it. If it's a audio
chip on the Motherboard then you have to go
into the Bios and disable it. Your Gateway Manual should explain how
to do that.
