Sound Volume control

Windows XP Home 32-bit SP3

I couldn't find a topic specific to this so here it is:

I am wondering why my sound control disapeared from my taskbar. I don't
recall doing anything that would have deleted it. But I can't seem to find a
way to get it back.

Does anyone know how to get the sound volume control to appear on the task
bar? (That little yellow speaker that was once there?)

Start > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Place volume icon in the
taskbar

I have:

Realtek High Definition Audio

and when I go to Control Panel it just says that the Volume Control was not
installed.
Yet I looked through all my installation CD's and find nothing for the sound
card.

I went to search in Google for this and find only Driver.com websites that
want to sell you their download service for drivers.

How do I get the volume control now?
